NextGen Ri Brings Robotics to Life at Armed Forces & Emergency Services Day

NextGen Ri joined the Armed Forces & Emergency Services Day in Weston-super-Mare on 21 June, partnering with Network Rail and Belvoir Rail to demonstrate how robotics are transforming work across a range of sectors.

Held on the Weston seafront, the event paid tribute to the dedication of Armed Forces and Emergency Services personnel and their families.

Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day, now an annual tradition in the town, has its roots in Veterans’ Day and first began in 2009. This year’s event included a parade, a variety of stalls, and live entertainment, bringing the community together in celebration and recognition.

For NextGen Ri, it was also an opportunity to show people of all ages the usefulness and value of robotics, not just as impressive machines, but as practical tools that support real work and real challenges.

The team demonstrated how proven robotic technologies are already making a difference, from improving railway safety to supporting emergency response operations and enhancing situational awareness in complex or hazardous environments.

They can access hard-to-reach or dangerous areas, gather vital data, and reduce the need to send people into risky situations, making them a powerful asset in the field.

James Brown, Director at NextGen Ri, said:

“It was a brilliant event, lots of people of all ages and huge interest in the robot dogs. There’s something brilliant about showing people the tech in action and seeing how curious they are. It’s a reminder of how far things have come and where things are heading.”

NextGen Ri believes robotics will play an increasingly vital role across key sectors. By working closely with partners and engaging directly with frontline professionals, the company is committed to developing smarter, safer solutions that meet today’s demands and shape the future of work.
